The chapter provides a short description about the currently available process models in DYNAMIZU.
Full plant models are models that describe the entire set of biokinetic processes across the entire water treatment plant.
Dynamita, 2026
MizuPro is a whole plant model considering different organism groups:
- Heterotrophs, XOHO:
- BOD removal under aerobic conditions
- two-step denitrification under anoxic conditions (the process is extended to growth on nitrite as well, thus allowing shortcut nitrogen removal modeling)
- particulate biodegradable substrate (XB) hydrolysis to SB
- Ammonia oxidizer bacteria (XAOB):
- oxidation of SNHX to nitrite (SNO2) under aerobic conditions
- Nitrite oxidizer bacteria (XNOB):
- oxidation of SNO2 to nitrate (SNO3) under aerobic conditions
- Sulfur-oxidizing organisms (XSOO)
- two-step biological sulfur oxidation
MizuPro also considers varied physio-chemical processes:
- Chemical phosphorus removal (iron or poly-aluminium chloride dosing)
- Coagulation of colloidal materials
- Precipitation reactions: calcium carbonate (XCaCO3), Amorphous calcium phosphate (XACP), brushite (XBSH) and struvite (XSTR)
- Three sulfur oxidation states as state variables: Sulfate (SO4), elemental sulfur (S°) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S)
- Two-step chemical oxidation of sulfur
- Chemical oxidation of Fe2+
- Chlorination model with mono-, di- and trichloramine formation along with dechlorination processes
- Chemical equilibrium (ionic speciation) for pH calculation
- Detailed gas transfer with CO2 and NH3
- PFAS sorption and desoprtion
- Pathogen inactivation due to chlorination, ozonation and UV
